Integration assistance through integration support for children and young people with disabilities at schools
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzDo you have a school-age child with physical, mental or psychological disabilities who needs individual support at school? Then your child can be supported by an integration assistant. Sometimes these are also referred to as school assistance or individual case assistance.
If your child needs individual support at school, then you can ensure that your child is well accompanied through the school day with the support of an integration assistant. These professionals not only provide support with care tasks such as toileting, but also with practical activities such as dressing and undressing and finding their way around the school. They also help in the classroom, for example by setting up the workstation or assisting with hand guidance.
Integration assistants also offer support in social and emotional areas, for example through calming techniques, and they help with communication with teachers and classmates.
If your child needs integration support at school, this is an integration aid and not an educational support measure. The integration assistants are not second teachers, but assistants who help your child to take part in lessons.
Your child will receive the support they need from an integration assistant. This assistance is based on your child's personal needs and is therefore very individual. The need is usually determined on the basis of an overall plan, taking into account a school report.
