Apply for information on the contaminated site or soil protection register
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzSites suspected of being contaminated are, on the one hand, plots of land belonging to decommissioned businesses/plants and other plots of land on which environmentally hazardous substances have been handled (contaminated sites) and, on the other hand, plots of land belonging to decommissioned waste disposal plants and other plots of land on which waste has been treated, stored or deposited (contaminated landfills).
The competent authority maintains a register of contaminated sites in which areas suspected of being contaminated are registered.
For various reasons, a property owner or a person with a legitimate interest requires information as to whether a property is suspected of being contaminated. For this purpose, an application for information from the register of contaminated sites can be submitted to the competent authority.
In order to provide information to persons who are not themselves the owner of the requested property, a power of attorney from the owner must be presented.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, suspected areas, suspected contaminated sites, harmful soil changes and contaminated sites are recorded in the Soil Protection Register(BIS-BoKat) is kept. Accordingly, property ownersor property owners and authorized third parties and authorized third parties can apply for information from the soil protection register.
