Apply for your data stored in the Central Register of Foreigners to be blocked for transmission
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIf you are a foreigner living in Germany for more than 90 days, your personal data will be stored in a central register for foreigners. Public authorities can obtain information about you from this register.
Non-public bodies, authorities of other countries and supranational or intergovernmental bodies can also obtain data from the Central Register of Foreigners if the legal requirements are met.
You can apply for your personal data to be blocked if you believe that you or your relatives are at risk. The data will be blocked if:
- your interests worthy of protection or those of another person could be impaired by the transfer of the data or
- at the request of the witness protection service.
Blocked data is subject to a transmission block. They may only be transmitted to non-public bodies, authorities of other countries or intergovernmental bodies in exceptional cases (without your consent).
If there is an overriding public interest, the block is also effective vis-à-vis public authorities. How long the block applies depends on the individual case.
