To do so, you must apply to be entered in the electoral register.
As a German national living abroad, you can register
in the electoral roll for the European elections as follows
register:
- You submit an application in accordance with Annex 2 of the European Election Regulations to the last municipality in which you had a residence or otherwise habitually resided before moving abroad.
- If you have never lived in Germany, the application must be submitted to the Berlin Mitte district office.
- The authority will decide on the application and at the same time send out postal voting documents or a rejection notice
You can register on the electoral roll as a German or German living abroad
register of voters if you
- are German or German within the meaning of Article 116 Paragraph 1 of the Basic Law,
- are at least 18 years old on election day
- are not excluded from the right to vote
- have resided in a member state of the European Union for at least 3 months on election day or otherwise habitually reside there, or
- have lived or otherwise habitually resided in the Federal Republic of Germany for at least three months without interruption after reaching the age of 14 and this residence was no longer than 25 years ago or
- you have, for other reasons, become personally and directly familiar with the political situation in the Federal Republic of Germany and are affected by it,
- in all cases, have submitted a written application in accordance with Annex 2 to the European Electoral Regulations by the 21st day before the election, which includes a corresponding declaration in lieu of an oath that you are not voting in any other member state or in any other German municipality
