- the prevention of illness
or
- the early detection and treatment of illnesses
serve this purpose.
Medical treatment also includes the provision of assistance by other persons if this is prescribed by a doctor.
Statutorily insured persons can consult any doctor who is licensed to provide care under the statutory health insurance scheme. These can be, for example, general practitioners or specialists in medical care centers, practices or outpatient facilities. It is usually advisable to contact the family doctor first.
