Proposing the removal of traffic signs
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzTraffic on public roads is regulated by traffic signs and traffic facilities for reasons of safety and order, climate and environmental protection, health and urban development.
Traffic signs include, for example
- Traffic signs
- road markings
- traffic lights
Traffic facilities are, for example
- red and white striped barriers
- Bollards and barrier railings
- parking ticket machines
Sometimes the reasons for erecting a traffic sign no longer apply. This is the case, for example, if
- the traffic routing has been changed
- traffic signs contradict each other
- bollards interfere with pedestrian or bicycle traffic
- a traffic sign indicates a hazard even though it no longer exists
You can submit proposals for the removal of traffic signs and traffic facilities to your road traffic authority. You must explain the reasons for your proposal. The road traffic authority will then check whether the traffic sign or traffic device is still required in the specific case.
In addition to the reasons for the removal of traffic signs and traffic facilities, a precise local description of the traffic sign/traffic facility in question is required.and an indication of exactly which traffic sign/road facility is being proposed for removal; photos and sketches may also be useful.
