Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzYou can change your child's name if your spouse is not the child's parent and you want your child to have your married name.
You can submit the name change declaration to any registry office. You must have it notarized by a notary or registrar. The declaration takes effect as soon as it arrives at the registry office.
You will receive a certificate of the name change.
The marriage register and the birth register will be updated.
The registry office is responsible.
- The spouses have a married name and live with the child in the same household.
- One spouse has custody of the child, the other is not a parent of the minor child.
- The other parent must agree to the name change if they also have custody of the child.
