You can apply for a life certificate in person at the relevant office.

Identity card or passport.

• Life certificate for the purposes of statutory pension insurance: free of charge.
• As proof for foreign pension insurance institutions and for private insurance companies (e.g. company pensions): possibly subject to a fee
  • outside the EU and Switzerland: subject to a fee

The life certificate is usually issued immediately upon personal application.
