Notification of the intended storage of ammonium nitrate and mixtures containing ammonium nitrate

Please contact the locally responsible Department of Labour Supervision of the Structure and Approval Directorates North and South.

Storage must be carried out according to the state of the art so that people and the environment are not endangered.

The basic measures are:

• Protection against weather influences,
• protection against contamination and dangerous aggregation,
• protection against unauthorised access,
• Fire protection and protection against inadmissible stresses
• Minimum and protective distances to permanently inhabited buildings and traffic routes must be determined and observed.
• Group A substances and mixtures may only be stored in single-storey buildings.

In addition, additional measures must be taken for substances and mixtures of groups and subgroups A, D IV and E (Annex I, point 5.4.2. GefStoffV).

The display must contain the following information:

1. the name and address of the notifier,

2. the nature and maximum quantity of substances or mixtures to be stored;

3. a description of the design and equipment of the warehouse with floor plans and sections,

4. a site plan showing the location of buildings and public transport routes within a radius of 350 metres,

5. which of the buildings marked in the site plan (according to the above-mentioned number 4) serve for the permanent residence of people or for residential purposes.

There are no fees.

The notification must be made at least two weeks before the intended storage. In addition, changes in the information on the nature and maximum quantity of substances and mixtures to be stored shall be notified to the competent authority without delay.
