Smoking ban in restaurants in Rhineland-Palatinate

The purpose of the law is to protect the population from exposures and health impairments caused by tobacco smoke (exposure to passive smoke)

Smoking ban in gastronomy in Rhineland-Palatinate has been in place since 15.02.2008

Exceptions:

• in separate adjoining rooms, if the floor area and the number of seats in the adjoining rooms with smoking permit are not greater than in the other smoke-free guest rooms
• in one-room restaurants under 75 m², if no or only simply prepared food is administered in the restaurant for consumption on the spot as a subordinate ancillary service
• in marquees with a service life of up to 21 days
