Request duplicates

To obtain a duplicate, please proceed as follows:

Online application:

• Go to the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and complete the online application.
• You can upload your documents directly.
• Submit the application online.
• The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) will check your application.
• After processing by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, you will receive a notification and a fee notice.
• Once you have paid the fees, you can retrieve the decision and receive the duplicate(s).

Application by post, fax or e-mail:

• Call up the relevant form on the LBA website.
• Complete the form and compile the required documents.
• The next steps are the same as for the online application.
• Send all documents to the LBA.

To apply for a duplicate, you need a legitimate reason such as theft or loss. There may also be other legitimate reasons.

You can apply for duplicates as the owner or as a representative for them.

for private individuals, sole proprietors or organizations that do not have their place of residence/registered office in Germany:

• Authorization to serve and receive documents

for the representation of private individuals or sole proprietors or the submission of applications or representation for companies, associations, civil law partnerships (GbR):

• Proof of authorization to represent (for your organization)

for a community of owners:

• Consent of the owners

You can find out which documents are required in your case on the application form.

The validity of duplicates (airworthiness certificate, registration certificate, noise protection certificate) is unlimited.

The processing time may vary in individual cases. You can ask the Federal Aviation Office for the current status.
