Apply for modification certification of terminals for BOS digital radio
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn digital radio for public safety authorities and organizations (BOS), terminals from various manufacturers are used. To ensure that these terminals are compatible with all network components and with each other, only terminals certified by the Federal Agency for the Digital Radio of Public Safety Authorities and Organizations (BDBOS) may be used. To this end, the BDBOS has defined performance characteristics in the so-called interoperability guidelines (IOP guidelines) that all terminals must fulfill. Compliance with these defined performance features is confirmed by a corresponding certificate.
If you have significantly changed the hardware or software of your terminal device already certified for the BOS, you must apply to the BDBOS for a change certification if you produce or distribute the devices.
A change certification can take place for
- Deactivation of interfaces or optional features
- Activation or conversion of optional features
- an adjustment required by the BDBOS, in particular to rectify safety deficiencies
- an error correction
For the change certification, describe the change as comprehensively as possible and explain the technical effects associated with it. The BDBOS will evaluate your information and inform you
- whether the requirements for change certification are met and
- what scope of testing is necessary.
In the next step, you commission a competent test center to carry out the test in accordance with the test criteria specified by the BDBOS. You then send the BOS test report to the BDBOS as proof.
You can apply for a modification certification for several terminals. You can apply for a maximum of 4 modification certifications for each individual terminal device. Otherwise a new certification is necessary.
