Apply for an identification number for farms keeping laying hens
Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzSince 01.01.2004, only eggs from a laying hen house for which a registration number (producer code) has been issued and which are marked with this corresponding producer code may be placed on the market (exception: direct marketing).
The following are subject to registration
- businesses that keep 350 or more laying hens or
- businesses that keep fewer than 350 hens but market their eggs subject to mandatory labeling.
If fewer than 350 hens are kept and the eggs are sold unmarked and unsorted directly to the end consumer on the farm or at the door (direct marketing), there is no obligation to register.
Eggs that are sold at the weekly market are subject to compulsory marking. The farm must therefore be registered.
