Within the European Union (EU) including the EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), the transboundary import or export (shipment) of waste is permitted subject to certain requirements under European law.
Note: Different regulations apply to the transboundary shipment of waste, depending on the
- classification of the waste (green or amber waste list),
- type of disposal (recovery or disposal) and
- country of destination.
