Applying for a special permit for marking

You can apply for an exemption permit for labeling online or by post, e-mail or fax.

Online application:

• Go to the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and complete the online application.
• You can upload your documents directly.
• Submit the application online.
• The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt will check your application.
• You will receive a decision and a fee notice.
• Once you have paid the fees, you can retrieve the notice of exemption for the marking.

By post, e-mail or fax:

• Draw up an informal letter to the LBA and provide all the information required for the application.
• Enclose the required documents with the letter.
• Send all documents to the LBA.
• The further procedural steps are the same as for the online application.

• You cannot comply with the legal requirements for marking an aircraft. For example, because you cannot affix the nationality and registration mark
  • in the prescribed place or
  • in the prescribed form.
• Any natural or legal person may submit the application.
• You can also submit an application as a representative.

• Documents that are required:

• Proof of identification:
  • Details of the position and height of the license plate
  • Information on the position of the federal flag
  • Photos of the marking

• for private individuals, sole proprietors and organizations that do not have their residence/registered office in Germany:

• Authorization to serve and receive documents

• for the representation of private individuals or sole proprietors or for the application or representation of companies, associations or GbRs:

• Proof of authorization to represent (for your organization)

• for a community of owners:

• Consent of the owners
