Applying for a noise protection certificate

You can apply for a noise protection certificate online or by post, e-mail or fax.

Online application:

• Go to the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and complete the online application.
• You can upload your documents directly.
• Submit the application online.
• After submitting, send the original of the previous noise protection certificate by post to the Federal Office of Civil Aviation if the noise values have changed. Please use the process number.
• The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt will check your application.
• You will receive a decision and a notification of fees.
• Once you have paid the fees, you can retrieve the decision and receive the original noise protection certificate.

By post, e-mail or fax:

• Call up the forms for issuing a noise protection certificate on the LBA website.
• Complete the forms and compile the required documents.
• Send all documents to the LBA.
• The next steps are the same as for the online application.

• You can prove that the noise of the aircraft does not exceed the technically necessary level. Proof is provided by
  • conformity with the type or
  • a review of the noise values and a corresponding certificate.
• If the noise values change, you will need a new noise certificate.
• You can only apply for a noise certificate if you have a noise permit.
• Any natural or legal person can apply for a noise certificate.
• You can also submit the application as a representative.

Documents that are required:

• Application for the issue of a noise certificate

• completed form "Noise Abatement Certificate for Aircraft with EASA Data Sheet (see EASA Form 45)" confirmed by an authorized body

for Annex I aircraft:

• completed form for the application for a noise certificate for Annex I aircraft, confirmed by an authorized body

for used aircraft:

• historical records to prove the manufacturing, modification and maintenance status of the aircraft

in the event of a change to the noise values:

• Proof of modification of the engine, propeller or tail rotor such as "Certificate of Release to Service" or logbook extract
• the original of the previous noise certificate

for private individuals, sole proprietors and organizations that do not have their residence/registered office in Germany:

• Authorization to serve and receive documents

for the representation of private individuals or sole proprietors or for the application or representation of companies, associations or GbRs:

• Proof of authorization to represent (for your organization)

for a community of owners:

• Consent of the owners

for a community of owners:

• Consent of the owners
