Request allocation of the SSR mode code

You can apply for the allocation of an SSR mode code online or by post or fax.

Online application:

• Go to the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and complete the online application.
• You can upload your documents directly.
• Submit the application online.
• The Federal Office of Civil Aviation will check your application.
• You will receive a notification and a fee notice.
• Once you have paid the fees, you can retrieve the notification and receive the allocation of the SSR mode code.

Application by post or fax:

• Call up the forms for the allocation of an SSR mode code on the LBA website.
• Complete the forms and compile the required documents.
• Send all documents to the LBA.
• The further procedural steps are the same as for the online application.

• You are the owner or operator of an aircraft that is to be licensed for operation under instrument flight rules in Germany.
• You can also submit the application as a representative.

• Application for allocation of a secondary radar code
• for private individuals, sole traders and organizations that do not have their residence/registered office in Germany:
  • Authorization for delivery and receipt
• for the representation of private individuals or sole traders or for the submission of applications or representation for companies, associations or GbRs:
  • Proof of authorization to represent (for your organization)

There is no deadline.
