Applying for a trailer registration certificate
Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzAs a rule, you need a registration for every vehicle you want to drive on public roads. You must carry the registration certificate part 1 (the former vehicle registration certificate), which you receive upon registration, with you every time you drive.
This also applies to trailers. If you have several trailers, you can apply to the competent authority for a trailer register. This applies to all trailers registered to you.
When driving, you can also carry the trailer register with you instead of the respective registration certificate part 1.
The list contains your name and address as well as the respective:
- Make of the trailer
- Vehicle class
- Type of body
- Unladen mass
- permissible total mass
- Vehicle identification number
- Date of first registration
- License plate number of the trailer
- the drawbar load for semi-trailers
You can also apply for multiple copies of the trailer register, for example in the number of your towing vehicles.
The registers are not always recognized in international traffic.
