Apply for a pilot's license for aircraft and helicopters under visual flight rules, light aircraft, gliders and free balloons

Once you have successfully completed the practical examination during your pilot training, you will not automatically receive your pilot's license. You must apply for this.

This applies to the following aircraft categories:

Airplanes and helicopters according to visual flight rules:
- PPL(A) - Private Pilot License Aircraft
- PPL(H) - Private Pilot License Helicopters
Light aircraft:
- LAPL(A) - Light Aircraft Pilot License Aircraft
- LAPL(H) - Light Aircraft Pilot License Helicopters
Sailplanes (Sailplane Pilot License - SPL)
Balloons (Balloon Pilot License - BPL)

You may not hold more than one license per aircraft category.

You must submit your application to the aviation authority responsible for you.

Application form
Valid identity document, e.g. identity card
medical certificate of fitness:
- For light aircraft license (LAPL): medical certificate
- For private pilot license (PPL), gliders (SPL) and free balloons (BPL): class 2 medical certificate
personal certificate of good conduct
Declaration of nationality
Certificate of completion with proof from the training organization of the training and passed exams
- The competent authority must enter any extensions or restrictions to your license in the final certificate.
Proof of language skills: English language skills (ICAO Level 4 or higher) recommended for international flights
For underage applicants: permission from parents or legal representatives
