Apply for accompanied driving from the age of 17 with an existing driving license
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn Germany, you can drive a vehicle in categories B and BE (passenger cars) at the age of 17 if
- you have passed the driving test,
- you have applied for an extension of this driving license for categories B and BE as part of "accompanied driving from 17" and
- you are accompanied by an authorized and previously appointed person.
On the date of your 18th birthday, you may drive the vehicle unaccompanied.
However, if you drive a vehicle before your 18th birthday without being accompanied by a named person, your driving license will be revoked. In addition
- a fine,
- a point on the driving aptitude register,
- the extension of the probationary period and
- an order for an advanced training seminar.
