Extending parking permits for severely disabled people

If you have a blue or orange parking permit as a severely disabled person, you can have it extended.

The parking permit allows you to park in places where this is not normally permitted. Authorized persons can also use the parking concessions if they are a passenger. A driver's license is not required.

The parking permit together with the written exemption is valid as proof.

There are two versions of the parking permit.

Blue parking permit:

valid throughout Europe
entitles the holder to park in parking spaces with a wheelchair symbol

Orange parking permit:

valid nationwide

Both parking permits entitle the holder to park in the following places:

in restricted no-stopping zones for up to 3 hours; applicants may be authorized a longer parking time for certain no-stopping zones. The arrival time must be indicated on a parking disk
under certain conditions in traffic-calmed areas
in parking spaces for residents for up to 3 hours
during the loading time in pedestrian zones where loading and unloading is permitted for certain times
at parking meters and parking ticket machines without charge and time limit
in areas where parking is prohibited, even outside the permitted parking period
beyond the permitted time in places where parking time is limited

The blue parking permit is issued to the following groups of people:

severely disabled people with an exceptional walking disability, i.e. with the aG i sign
Blind people with the Bl mark on their pass
severely disabled people with bilateral amelia or phocomelia, i.e. missing or malformed limbs, or with comparable functional impairments

The orange parking permit is issued to the following groups of people

severely disabled people with the G and B signs and
- a degree of disability (GdB) of at least 70 for functional disorders of the lower limbs and lumbar spine alone, insofar as these affect the ability to walk and
- at the same time a GdB of at least 50 for functional disorders of the heart or respiratory organs
severely disabled people who suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis if they have a GdB of at least 60
severely disabled people with an artificial bowel outlet and artificial urinary diversion, if they have a GdB of at least 70
Severely disabled people who are treated as equivalent to the above-mentioned group of people as determined by a pension physician
