Apply for recognition as a specialist pharmacist with a professional qualification from a third country

Before you submit the application, you must already have the license to practice as a pharmacist or a professional license in Germany.

You apply for recognition of your advanced training designation as a specialist pharmacist at the responsible state chamber of pharmacists:

• First, submit your application and the required documents to the Chamber of Pharmacists of the state in which you wish to work.
• If necessary, you will be asked to submit any missing documents.
• The responsible office will check whether your professional qualification is equivalent. The professional qualification is equivalent if there are no significant differences between your foreign professional qualification and the German professional qualification.
• If your qualification as a specialist pharmacist is recognized, you can work in the profession in Germany. You will receive a notification.
  
  If significant differences are found, the equivalence of your qualification as a specialist pharmacist will not be certified:
• You will receive a statement of reasons.
• You can take an examination to prove the missing knowledge.
• If you pass the exam, you will receive recognition. You may then use the title "Fachapothekerin" or "Fachapotheker" for your specialization.

You can take legal action against the decision of the competent body within a certain period of time (for example, file an objection). The decision will then be reviewed. Details on this can be found in the appeal instructions at the end of your decision. It is best to talk to the responsible office first before taking legal action against the decision.

Landesapothekerkammer Rheinland-Pfalz - Department of Pharmacy

• You must already have a state professional license (Approbation) as a pharmacist valid in Germany or a professional permit.
• You must provide evidence of the equivalence of your professional qualification as a specialist pharmacist.

• You are a member of the Landesapothekerkammer Rheinland-Pfalz.

• Curriculum vitae with details of further education and work experience completed
• Proof of identity (identity card or passport)
• Proof of German license to practice medicine or profession and proof of equivalent educational level
• Proof of further training and certificates of professional experience
• additional evidence for the equivalence test
• written declaration whether you have already applied for recognition at another chamber of pharmacists

If your documents are not in German, you must submit German translations of your documents. The translations must be made by translators who are publicly appointed or authorized.

The Landesapothekerkammer Rheinland-Pfalz charges the following fees:

for the processing of an application of a chamber member on the basis of the continuing education regulations for the entitlement to use a special designation in a field, sub-area or area € 250.00

The fees are regulated in the Rhineland-Palatinate Fee Schedule
