Evaluate school performance
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn order to demonstrate their level of achievement, pupils provide written, oral and other performances at appropriate intervals in accordance with the requirements of the respective course of education, the grade level concerned and the individual subjects, learning areas and learning fields. Performance records are used for performance assessment and as a basis for counseling.
The individual written, oral and other performance records as well as the overall performance achieved during a school year are assessed by grades (grades 1 to 6) or points (0 to 15 points). In grades 1 and 2 of elementary school, no numerical grades are awarded; parents receive information on their child's development through verbal reports at the end of the school year and a recorded parent-teacher-child discussion in the middle of the second school year. In grades 3 and 4, children receive a combined performance evaluation through grades and verbal assessment.
In certain grades and in some special school courses, the grades are supplemented or replaced by a verbal assessment.
