Fachschule Pflege (BBS)
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe training to become a nurse is carried out full-time and lasts three years. It consists of theoretical and practical instruction at a vocational school and practical training in the institution with which one has concluded a training contract (provider of practical training), which can be, for example, hospitals, inpatient care facilities, or outpatient care services. The training starts with an orientation assignment at the provider of the practical training, followed by the individual compulsory assignments in different areas in which people are cared for. At the same time, a generalist training phase according to a uniform curriculum takes place for two years. During this time, the trainees are taught together in the nursing school. For the third year, a specialization in the field of pediatric nursing or geriatric care is possible, initially for a transitional period until 2025. However, the generalist training as a nurse can also be continued with a possible in-depth assignment with the provider of practical training in the third year of training.
