Admission to dual vocational secondary school

You register to attend the DBOS or FHRU at the school responsible for you.

The course concludes with a written and oral final examination.

You can take the exam if you can prove the required learning modules.

Tip: Learning modules that have already been completed in other types of school (e.g. part-time vocational school, higher vocationalschool) can be credited in the DBOS. They can lead to a shortening of the visit to the DBOS.

The vocational school responsible for you can be found on the Bildungsserver Rheinland-Pfalz.

Tip: Take a look at the homepage of the school you have selected – there you will find the contact persons for the DBOS and further information. Prior consultation with the responsible school is recommended. All necessary evidence can be discussed.

• Education Server Rhineland-Palatinate

Prerequisite for admission to the DBOS is:

• the qualified lower secondary school leaving certificate (intermediate school leaving certificate) and at least two years of completed vocational training - also in a health profession - or
• training as a civil servant in the Second Entry-Level Post (formerly: middle service) or
• the completion of the Höhere Berufsfachschule or
• the completion of a technical school of at least two years.

Prerequisite for admission to the FHRU is:

• the qualified lower secondary school leaving certificate (intermediate school leaving certificate) and the start of at least two years of vocational training - also in a health profession - or
• attendance at a three-year vocational school in Rhineland-Palatinate or
• attendance at a higher vocational school in Rhineland-Palatinate or
• attendance at a technical school in Rhineland-Palatinate.

It is recommended to attend the Fachhochschulreifeunterricht from the second year of training.

You need proof of lower secondary education

and the proof

• a completed vocational training or
• about the completion of a higher vocational school or
• training as a civil servant, or
• about a degree from at least two years of technical school

Tip: Crediting of learning modules

For this purpose, the learning modules must be based on the Qualified Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Intermediate School Leaving Certificate). They must be successfully completed and documented in a qualification passport.

There are no school fees to pay.

Participation in the textbook loan is not possible.

Costs for textbooks and teaching materials must be borne by yourself.

Registration must be made by 1 March of each year.

The completion of the Fachhochschulreife entitles you throughout Germany to study all subjects at universities of applied sciences, dual universities and vocational academies or to an apprenticeship in the third entry-level office (higher service).

A transition to the Berufsoberschule II is also possible.
