Free learning materials

The application documents for the granting of free learning materials must be submitted in paper form to the school authority responsible for your school.

Please contact the responsible school authority (usually the municipal, city or district administration or a private school authority) with any questions you may have in connection with free learning materials. You can find out who this is in individual cases from the school secretariat.

Parents or pupils of full age whose income does not exceed the income limits stipulated by law in § 3 of the State Ordinance on the Freedom of Learning Resources and the Paid Lending of Learning Resources will receive textbooks and supplementary printed materials (e.g. workbooks) free of charge upon request.

Pupils from special schools and the vocational preparation year are also entitled to borrow learning materials free of charge, regardless of their parents' income.

A written application for the granting of free learning materials must be submitted to the school authority responsible for your school.

The written application is not required for pupils at special schools and the vocational preparation year.

In the case of free lending (free learning materials), no fees are charged for the lending of learning materials (even at special schools and in the vocational preparation year).

The deadline for submitting the application form to apply for free learning materials is March 15 for the following school year. Applications received late may be accepted and processed by the school authority in justified cases.
