School social work
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzSchool social work is a socio-educational service provided by child and youth welfare services in and with schools. It makes an important contribution to personal development, social skills, conflict resolution and emotional stabilization - particularly with regard to children and young people in disadvantaged life situations.
School social workers can be employed either by the youth welfare office as the local public youth welfare organization or by an independent youth welfare organization.
The tasks of school social workers include
- Advice and support for children, young people, parents, legal guardians and teachers
- Socio-educational group work and projects
- Support during transitions
- Conflict resolution
- Participation in school development and youth welfare planning
- Networking
