If you would like to work abroad in an academic or non-academic healthcare profession, you will generally need proof of your qualifications (proof of training). You will also need a certificate of good standing (certificate of good standing). This confirms that you are authorized to practice your profession without restriction. The certificate also shows that no professional or disciplinary measures have been taken or initiated against you.

You can obtain a certificate of good standing from the competent authority in the federal state in which you practise or last practised your profession.

The certificate of good standing is issued by the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Care.

For certificates of good standing in the academic health professions, please contact the office of the State Office in Mainz.

Your last professional activity must have been in the state of application
the professional activity must correspond to an academic or non-academic health profession
if applicable, official certification and translation of documents into German
- If copies are submitted, they must be officially certified. In the case of copies without official certification, the simultaneous submission of the originals is required.
- Documents in foreign languages require an official German translation by an interpreter sworn in Germany.
