Fishing licence issuance

If you want to fish, you need a fishing license. This is issued by the municipal administration on request, provided that you have passed a state fishing examination or there are facts that make it unnecessary to take the fisherman's examination (see fisherman's examination).

For fishing, you also need a fishing permit from the fishing license or fishing tenant of the respective body of water.

Fees:

Fishing license adult for 1 year 12,00 Euro

Fishing license adult for 5 years 41,00 Euro

Youth fishing license (1 year) 5,60 Euro

Prerequisite for obtaining a fishing license in Rhineland-Palatinate:

Completion of the 13th year of age
Participation in a preparatory course of at least 35 hours
State fishing examination before the examination board

The issue or renewal of an adult fishing license is possible for 1 or 5 years.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

identity card
passport photo
examination certificate

Please note

It is not possible to extend a fishing license from another federal state, an initial issue must be made!

Youth fishing licenses are issued to persons who have reached the age of 7 but not yet the age of 16. They may only fish if they are accompanied by a fishing license holder.

State Fishing Act (LFischG)

The competent authority for issuing the fishing licence, the juvenile fishing licence or a special fishing licence (for persons with physical, mental or psychological disabilities) shall be:

for persons domiciled in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the administration of the municipality (Verbandsgemeinde, non-affiliated municipality, large district-affiliated city, district-free city) in which the applicant has his or her place of residence,
for persons residing outside the Land of Rhineland-Palatinate, the administration of the municipality in which the applicant intends to fish.
