As the protection of the population from dangers posed by explosive ordnance is a high priority in Rhineland-Palatinate, the costs of the explosive ordnance clearance service are borne by the state. The services of the RLP Explosive Ordnance Clearance Service are free of charge for affected property owners.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Explosive Ordnance Clearance Service searches for, clears and destroys unexploded ordnance.

If the request for the disposal of explosive ordnance does not have a concrete background of danger or actual evidence of explosive ordnance (historical records, binding witness statements), the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service cannot take action in accordance with the Police and Regulatory Authorities Act. The relevant find must then be removed by a private company at its own expense.
