Claim victim support (crimes)
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzVictims of crime are usually not only financially or economically damaged as a result of the crime, but also suffer psychologically from the consequences of the crime. Their needs include, in addition to security against further crimes, coping with the trauma resulting from the crime, assisting in restoring their dignity and compensating for the damage suffered.
Victims of crime receive help from many sides. There is the state claim under the Victim Compensation Act (OEG), psychosocial process support and other victim support institutions (counseling centers, the women's shelters, the WEISSEN RING e.V., the Foundation for Victim Protection, etc. private victim support organization).
Particularly vulnerable injured persons may also have a legal right to professional support and care during the entire criminal proceedings, the so-called psychosocial process support.
Psychosocial process support is a particularly intensive form of accompaniment before, during and after the main hearing. It includes qualified supervision, information transfer and support in criminal proceedings. Above all, this is intended to reduce the individual burden on the victims. Process support therefore does not replace the lawyer. Legal advice is and remains the task of lawyers alone. Litigation support is a non-legal accompaniment and thus an additional offer for particularly vulnerable victims.
Psychosocial facilitators have the right to be present at interrogations of the victim.
The Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for victim protection supports victims of crimes who have fallen into economic distress as a result of the crime. The foundation's task is to provide additional financial assistance to victims of crime. It is intended to help alleviate emergencies when these people cannot be helped in other ways. In addition, one of the tasks of the Landesstiftung is to support non-profit organizations that are committed to the care of victims of a crime.
The WEISSE RING z.B. offers the following specific assistance for victims:
