Register residence
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIf you move into a new home, you must register with the registration office responsible for you at your new place of residence within two weeks of moving in.
If you are under 16 years of age, you must be registered by the person whose home you are moving into.
If you are over 18 years of age and a carer or guardian has been appointed for you who can determine your residence, then your new home must be registered by your carer or guardian.
You only have to register newborn babies born in Germany if they move into a different home to that of their parents or mother.
To register your new home, you must come in person to the registration office responsible for you or authorize another person to do so.
You should visit us in person to register your place of residence. You will then not need a registration form, as we will complete the form for you.
In exceptional cases (if you are moving to Switzerland from abroad), you can have a completed and signed registration form delivered to us by an authorized person. Please use the corresponding power of attorney from our website.
You can currently also register online after moving to Koblenz from within Germany. After receiving the registration confirmation, please make an appointment to change your identity card/passport/electronic residence permit.
If you are moving here from abroad, you will always need to visit the Citizens' Registration Office in person to register. Please make an appointment in advance!
Important note!
We may request additional documents in individual cases, as the information provided can only cover standard cases of registration. Thank you for your understanding!
If you move within Koblenz, we can change the address in the vehicle registration certificate. This will save you a trip to the registration office (a fee of €10.80 will be charged)!
