You can apply to have your resident parking permit extended.

Special information for District-free City Koblenz

Parking permits whose validity ends after 29.02.2024 are subject to the new fee schedule.
An extension is currently only possible max. 4 weeks before expiry and only on site.
To do this, book an appointment at the Citizens' Office or contact the service point without an appointment.
Important: Bring your vehicle registration certificate! An extension is not possible without a vehicle license!

General information:

The validity of a resident parking permit is 1 year.

Please note:

If your parking permit has been expired for more than 3 months, an extension is no longer possible. The application is a new application and the documents for a new application must be submitted accordingly.
If you are unable to visit the Bürgeramt yourself, it is possible to authorize another person in writing and to submit the application documents with the power of attorney. Please only use the forms on our homepage.

From 2026 , a new negative parking space certificate must be submitted for each renewal.

Why? The aim is to improve the use of private parking spaces and, as a result, to improve the parking situation in public traffic areas.

Note: vehicles registered abroad

If you intend to use your resident parking permit for a vehicle with a foreign registration, only a provisional issue for a period of one month is initially possible.

During this period, you will have the opportunity to visit the municipal registration office and have the legality of the foreign registration of your vehicle checked.

As soon as the legal registration issues have been clarified and the registration is legal, the issue of a resident parking permit can be finally checked and processed.

Important!!!

If you lose your resident parking permit, you must bring the following documents with you:

identity card
vehicle registration document
Signed declaration of loss of the resident parking permit
If a personal visit to the Citizens' Registration Office is not possible, a power of attorney stating that the duplicate may be applied for and handed over (informal).

An extension can be applied for at the Service Center without an appointment or at the Citizens' Office with an appointment.

Special information for District-free City Koblenz

You must be registered with your main place of residence in a part of Koblenz with parking space management.
You are a vehicle owner, i.e. you use a vehicle for your own account and have power of disposal over it. This means that your vehicle is registered in your name (from 01.01.2015, it is possible to keep the old registration number if you move to another registration district, but the address in the vehicle registration certificate must still be updated at the relevant registration office) or you are not the registered owner of the vehicle, but can submit a certificate of use from the owner or You are the owner of the vehicle but are registered as the second or additional holder on the vehicle registration certificate (a copy of the vehicle registration certificate is required) or you have been provided with a company car by your company (the company must confirm this on the application for the parking permit and a tax certificate must be available).
Another prerequisite is that you have not been provided with a parking space. If you are a tenant of an apartment, this must be confirmed by the owner of the apartment or the landlord by means of a so-called negative parking space certificate.
You must also be in possession of a driving license valid in Germany.

Parking permit expires within the next 4 weeks. (Extension not possible if expires earlier!).

Dogs and other pets are not permitted in the premises of the Citizens' Office and the Service Center. Guide dogs for the blind are excepted.
