Small farm to apply for approval for meat production
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIf you want to obtain meat as part of a commercial slaughter, you need a license regardless of the size of the company. For so-called small businesses, there are legal requirements for large companies, which you can ask the competent authority.
Approval is only carried out after an on-site inspection by the authorities. It may be granted on a temporary basis and subject to conditions. With the approval, your permanent establishment will also receive the veterinary control number (authorisation number) required for intra-Community trade.
Please contact the relevant district administrations or the municipal ities of the respective district-free city.
Require approval:
All establishments carrying out commercial slaughterings, such as:
- Self-slaughtering direct marketers
- Self-slaughtering butchers/butchers.
Do not require approval:
- Restaurants, restaurants and retail businesses if they do not sell more than one third of their products of animal origin to other local retailers.
A written request is required.
Admission must in principle be applied for before the start of the activity.
