Rescue service/ ambulance service
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe rescue service is responsible for carrying out life-saving measures in the case of life-threatening injuries or illnesses (emergency patients), restoring their fitness for transportation and transporting them to a suitable hospital under professional care, usually by ambulance or emergency ambulance and possibly by rescue helicopter.
They also provide professional assistance to sick, injured or other persons in need of help who are not emergency patients and transport them under supervision, usually in ambulances.
As the responsible body for the rescue service, the Rhein-Lahn district is responsible for ensuring that the population is provided with emergency and healthcare services to avert danger in line with demand and across the board [see §§ 2 Para. 1; 3 Para. 1 of the State Act on the Rescue Service and Emergency and Patient Transport (RettDG)]. To ensure this, various vehicles are used for emergency rescue or patient transportation.
In the Rhine-Lahn district, these vehicles are distributed among the rescue stations in Braubach, Bad Ems, Diez, Katzenelnbogen, Nassau, Nastätten and St. Goarshausen and are used for scheduled patient transportation and emergency rescue. In addition to the rescue stations, there are also emergency doctor locations. These are located in Diez and Singhofen. The comprehensive stationing of rescue service vehicles and a team of emergency doctors at each of the emergency doctor locations ensures that a suitable rescue unit is available just a few minutes after an emergency call is received.
To provide the rescue service, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate is divided into various rescue service areas that cover the territory of several districts and independent cities. The Rhein-Lahn district belongs to the Montabaur rescue service area, where the integrated control center is also located. The districts of Altenkirchen, Neuwied and Westerwald are also included.
It has an important function, as it is responsible for managing operations for the entire rescue service area. In addition, the integrated control center is responsible for alerting the fire departments and, if necessary, provides command support for fire protection, general assistance and disaster control.
