Epidemic
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzAn epidemic is the temporal and local accumulation of a disease within a population group, which in the narrower sense is infectious diseases, i.e. diseases that can be transmitted from person to person.
A cross-country and continental spread of a disease is called a pandemic.
Epidemic diseases are many tropical diseases such as .B dengue fever, but cholera, flu or typhoid can also trigger epidemics.
In order to combat epidemics, quarantine and segregation measures are among other things possible. In addition, major events can be cancelled. This is decided by the local health authorities in consultation with the relevant regulatory authorities.

Note on reporting vaccination complications to the public health department:
As the notification to the public health department must be made by name in accordance with Section 6 (1) No. 3 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG), the name and address must be given in full on the form for reporting vaccination complications if this form is used for the notification to the public health department. The onward notification from the public health department to the Paul Ehrlich Institute and the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Care in accordance with Section 11 (3) IfSG is then made anonymously (initials only).
Note on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for persons obliged to notify (report, transmit), such as doctors and community facilities:
The legality of notifications and transfers remains unaffected by the entry into force of the GDPR. However, the data subject must be informed in accordance with the provisions of Art. 13 GDPR if personal data is collected from them for the first time.
