Participate in enrolment examination

The responsible primary school shall notify the health authority of all children registered for school attendance by 15 October of the previous year of enrolment (or, in the case of children who are not yet of school age but registered for early school attendance until 15 March). The health department notifies the parents in good time about the examination dates. The primary schools will be informed by 31 January or 31 May about the children whose physical development does not allow them to expect successful cooperation. On this basis, the school discusses further measures with the parents.

The invitation to the enrolment examination is issued by the health authorities.

The responsibility lies with the health department of the city or county.

• Your child has reached the age of six by 31 August of each year.
• The children must be registered to attend school.

In the invitation letter you will find information on the documents to be brought along for the examination. As a rule, these are:

• yellow pension booklet,
• vaccination certificate,
• anamnesis sheet,
• if available: glasses, healing aids.

There are no costs.

The examination dates are determined by the respective health authorities.

Appeals are not possible against the school entrance examination itself, but possibly against resulting measures such as a deferral of school attendance.

In principle, the specified examination date must be adhered to. If the examination date is prevented from attending, the responsible body and the school must be notified immediately.
