Granting warnings and fines in road traffic Hearing
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIf you have been informed by cover letter that you have committed an administrative offence in road traffic, you will also be informed there that you can use the hearing.
This gives you the opportunity to comment on the accusation and, for example, to refute the information provided by the authority.
There is no obligation to use the consultation.
Consequences of detected vehicle defects
As part of an inspection by the police, a regulatory authority or during the general inspection, it has been established that your vehicle has defects that impair its road safety. The registration office will be informed of this. You will then be heard by the registration office and asked to have the defects rectified and to provide evidence of this to the registration office. Proof can be, for example: an expert report, the repair report from a master workshop, the defect clearance card from the police.
If you do not provide evidence that the defects have been rectified within the set period, the registration office will order the compulsory deregistration of your vehicle by order/operating ban.
Vehicles that are unsafe to drive
If a vehicle is found to be not only defective but also unsafe to drive, the above-mentioned hearing/request to rectify defects is not necessary. An administrative order/operating ban will be issued directly and the vehicle will be compulsorily taken out of service. In these cases, proof that defects have been rectified can only be provided by means of a new test report on a general inspection.
