Passport issue for minors for the first time
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe application of minors must be approved in writing by both parents (as long as they have joint custody). In the case of unmarried or divorced parents, consent can be given by the parent to whom the family court has granted sole parental custody of the child. The decision of the family court must be submitted with the application.
Furthermore, in the case of minors, one parent may sign at the time of application and the other parent may sign at the time of collection.
Please note the following general information from the Landstuhl Residents' Registration Office:
- a personal appearance of the child is required
- Birth certificate (if issued for the first time or if the previous document is lost)
- a current biometric photo in passport size (not older than 3 months)
- Application by a parent or legal guardian (power of attorney of the parent or legal guardian not present must be present + copy of ID/passport)
- If necessary, current proof of custody by court order
