Preservation of monuments

The preservation of monuments is divided, among other things, into the preservation of monuments. It deals with the preservation and sustainable handling of our built environment, as far as these are cultural monuments.

These can be example:

Architectural monuments,
Monument areas,
archaeological cultural monuments,
archaeological monuments,
movable cultural monuments
Small monuments.

If you intend to carry out reconstruction work on your monument, or if a building monument has to be removed for compelling reasons, please contact the competent authority in good time.

Special information for Administrative District Donnersbergkreis

Cultural monuments are divided into immovable cultural monuments (1. fixed individual monuments and buildings, 2. monument zones) and movable cultural monuments (1. movable individual objects, 2. collections and other groups of individual objects).

Changes to a cultural monument require a permit under monument law, which is issued by the Lower Monument Protection Authority. Repairs must be reported to the Lower Monument Protection Authority.

The first point of contact for applications for changes or other measures on cultural monuments is usually the lower monument protection authority, which is located in the district administrations and the administrations of the district-free cities.

The heritage authority is responsible for certificates (including certificates for presentation to the tax office) as well as the preparation of expert opinions on questions of monument protection.

Cultural monuments are objects from a bygone era that

testimonies, in particular of intellectual or artistic creation, craftsmanship or technical work or historical events and developments,
traces or remains of human life or distinctive features of towns and cities and
there is a public interest in its preservation and maintenance or its scientific research and documentation for historical, scientific, artistic or urban reasons.
