Bulky waste includes all bulky household items that cannot be placed in the standardized waste containers even after reasonable shredding. Bulky waste does not include, among other things Electrical and electronic appliances of all kinds, refrigerators and freezers and chests, renovation waste such as doors, windows, parquet flooring, wallpaper, sanitary equipment such as bathtubs, washbasins, vehicle parts, tires, night storage heaters or parts, oil stoves and oil tanks, cardboard, cardboard packaging and household waste.

The bulky waste appointment can be arranged by telephone, fax, email or in writing with the person in charge. Bulky waste must be precisely labeled when the appointment is made and must be separated into wood and other bulky waste and placed at the roadside on the day of collection.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the districts and independent cities are responsible for the collection of bulky waste. They have organized the collection of bulky waste according to the local conditions in their area. This can take the form of fixed collection dates, collection on request or collection facilities at central locations.
