Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe death of a person must be reported no later than the third working day after the occurrence of the death to the competent registry office in whose area of responsibility he died.
If the death occurs in an institution (hospital, old people's or nursing home or another institution), the institution is obliged to report the case in writing to the registry office.
If the death occurs outside an institution (hospital, nursing home or other institution), any person who lived in the same household as the deceased is the person in whose home the death occurred and any other person who was present at the death or is informed of the death from his or her own knowledge: obliges to report the death orally. A funeral home can also be entrusted with the notification.
The registry office in whose district the death occurred is responsible for notarization.
The death must be reported to the relevant registry office within three working days.
The following documents are generally required for notarization:
- Death certificate from the doctor
- Marriage certificate or a copy of the marriage register of the deceased in the case of married persons,
- additionally the death certificate of the spouse in the case of widowed persons
- Birth certificate for unmarried persons
- identity card
- Certificate of registration for deceased persons not registered in Frankenthal
If a burial is to take place in one of Frankenthal's cemeteries, a burial permit is also required. This is also issued by the registry office.
A fee of €uro 19.00 is payable for this.
