Electronic residence permit (eAT) issued in case of loss or theft

Then you are obliged to do the following immediately:
- Report a theft to the police.
- Inform the Foreigners' Registration Office about the theft or loss of your eAT (in writing, by e-mail, by telephone or in person).
- If the online ID function was activated in your eAT, then have it blocked. This serves your own protection and avoids the misuse of your data.
Blocking of the online ID function
- By phone at the nationwide blocking hotline (0180-1-33 33 33/). The blocking hotline is available at any time.
- Please enter the lock password. You received the lock password together with the PIN (secret number to activate the function) and the PUK (secret number to unlock the function) in a letter. The letter was delivered to you before the eAT was handed over to you.
- Please then inform the Foreigners' Registration Office immediately about the blocking.
If you no longer have the blocking password, you must come to the Foreigners' Registration Office for the blocking. Please bring your passport with you.
Unlocking the online ID function
The stolen or lost eAT card is back?
For security reasons, you cannot have the blocked eAT card unlocked by telephone via the blocking hotline. You must come to the Foreigners' Registration Office in person.
However, the eAT card can only be unlocked if a new eAT card has not yet been ordered from Bundesdruckerei.
Lost additional sheet?
You have not lost the eAT card, but the additional sheet (green folded card)?
Then you do not have to inform the police or immigration office. The blocking of the online ID function is then also not necessary. Please come to the Foreigners' Registration Office to have a new supplementary sheet issued.
New residence permit
You must have your residence permit reissued. To do this, book an appointment for a transfer (see the section "Related links").
Until further notice, residence permits are usually issued as adhesive labels at the Berlin Foreigners' Registration Office. It is therefore likely that you will not get a new eAT card, but an adhesive label in your passport.
