Care support points (PSP)

Source: BUS Rheinland-Pfalz

In Rhineland-Palatinate, 135 care support points are central points of contact for all aspects of care and offer joint, independent and cross-agency individual and free care advice.

One of the main tasks of the care support points is to develop an individual care plan together with the person in need of help and their relatives. The specialists at the care support centers get an idea of the person's need for help and support as well as their living situation. They can provide specific information about the necessary and regionally available range of services. Care advice is also provided in the form of outreach advice and therefore in the person's own home. They decide for themselves which of the available services they would like to make use of.

Care support points are also available to help with difficulties with care service providers or care facilities.

When advising foreign families and families of ethnic German immigrants, the care support centers work closely with the specialist migration advice services in order to overcome language barriers and take cultural particularities into account.

In addition, existing structures relating to the topic of care and the development and establishment of networks, particularly in the area of voluntary and civic involvement, are promoted and integrated into the work of the care support center. This also applies to self-help groups, organizations and contact points.

The work of the care support point also helps to strengthen the participation of disabled and elderly people with care needs in society and to facilitate new civic involvement.

The citizens' hotline of the Federal Ministry of Health also provides information on care insurance at +49 30 3406066-02.
