Do you produce food, handle it or place it on the market? Do you come into contact with these foods directly or indirectly (via consumer goods, such as plates or cutlery)? Do you want to work or be active in kitchens of restaurants, canteens and cafés or in facilities for communal catering?

Then you need a certificate from the health office that is no more than 3 months old. This proves the successful participation in an instruction about the measures for the protection against infection.

The aim of the instruction is to enable you to recognize your own symptoms of infectious diseases or symptoms of your employees at an early stage. You should also be able to prevent further spread as well as contamination of food and to assess when you should no longer carry out your activities in the event of certain symptoms.

The certificate is issued either by the health department or by a physician appointed by the health department.

Anyone who handles food for the first time on a commercial basis or regularly prepares food for the public requires such initial instruction. This applies, for example, to employees in pubs, restaurants, canteens and cafés.

The instruction is carried out online. This means that you no longer need to visit the public health department in person. The instruction is available in 26 languages.

The district of Südliche Weinstraße has commissioned the Glehn Technology Center (TZG) to carry out the online instruction.

Prior registration for participation is mandatory.

Register for the online procedure using your service account or complete it without registering.
If applicable, have your proof of fee exemption ready.
After completing the online instruction, you will receive your proof as follows:
- If you register using a service account, you must visit the public health department during the specified opening hours to pay the applicable fee and collect your proof.
- If you have uploaded proof of exemption from fees, this will be checked by the public health department and you will be able to download your proof once it has been approved by the public health department.
- If you have completed the online instruction without registering, you must visit the public health department during the specified opening hours to identify yourself with an ID document, pay the fee on site (not applicable if you present a proof of exemption from fees that has been checked by the public health department) and collect the proof.

How does online instruction work?

The district of Südliche Weinstraße has commissioned the Glehn Technology Center (TZG) to carry out the instruction. The instruction process is as follows:

You book an appointment for the online instruction at the following link:https://suew.gotzg.de/
You select an appointment and confirm it
Now enter your personal data. These will of course be transmitted in compliance with data protection regulations.
You will then receive an e-mail with a confirmation code, which you must enter.
After confirming the e-mail address, you must pay the fees. These fees amount to 30 euros.
A fee exemption may be possible for certain circumstances. This is the case, for example, in the event of training or a school internship.

Please enclose the relevant proof (e.g. training contract) with your email.
If the fee waiver is granted, you will receive a voucher code that you can enter during the registration process. You will then not incur any costs for the instruction
Before you can start the course, you must verify your identity to the Technology Center staff. This is done using the method you selected during the registration process (e.g. WhatsApp video).
Please switch on the end device 10 minutes before the appointment. You will be called at the booked appointment (e.g. via WhatsApp, Facetime, Signal or Ginlo via video call).
You show your ID card so that a live match can be made between you and the person you have registered.
You will then receive your access data (participant code) for the instruction and can choose the language in which you would like to receive the instruction. Foreign languages are displayed as subtitles in the German-language instruction film.
Now all you have to do is actively click on and approve the data protection consent or instructions for the instruction. You can then take part in the instruction.
You then have the option of watching the instruction video. You can pause the film or watch sequences again at any time.
Afterwards, please read through the instruction leaflet. The information sheet is also available in other languages.
After the instruction, participation in a test is mandatory. Eight questions are asked, each of which has only one correct answer.

You can download and print out the certificate once it has been approved in the system, provided all the required documents are available. Alternatively, the certificate will be sent to you by e-mail.

You will be charged a fee of 30.00 Euro will be charged.

If you belong to one of the following groups, you will receive the instruction free of charge:

Pupils who are doing an internship to find a career in food businesses,
Persons doing a voluntary social or ecological year or the Federal Voluntary Service,
Persons who are to be employed

as pre-school pupils,
for vocational training,
as vocational trainees or interns

to provide voluntary assistance to hospitals

children, young people, mothers and fathers if they are to take part in a recreational measure.

If you are eligible for a fee waiver, please contact the staff responsible.

A specific form of instruction is not prescribed by the IfSG.

After the instruction, it must be declared in text form that no facts are known for a prohibition of activity.

If there are indications that there are grounds for prohibiting work in the food sector, the certificate may not be issued until a medical certificate proves that the relevant ground for prohibition no longer exists.

Are there versions of the online training course in other languages?

Citizens who do not have a good command of German can choose a version with subtitles in other languages.

Underage participants

Minors require a declaration from their legal guardian stating that they are not aware of any facts that would prohibit their child from working. This signed declaration must be brought along to the instruction session.
