Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzHealth care benefits as part of social assistance can be granted in the event of economic need and if other personal and health requirements are met. Depending on the need for assistance, the following benefits may be considered:
- Preventive health assistance,
- Assistance in the event of illness,
- Assistance with family planning,
- Assistance with pregnancy and maternity,
- Assistance with sterilization.
Health assistance is subordinate to possible claims for benefits from other social service providers, in particular statutory health insurance benefits and contractual cover under private health insurance. Comprehensive and case-specific advice is provided by the employees of the responsible social welfare provider (social welfare office).
Health assistance -SGB XII Chapter 5
Within the scope of health assistance, benefits are possible in the area of preventive health assistance, assistance in the event of illness and assistance during pregnancy and maternity. These benefits are provided in accordance with the provisions of the Third Chapter, Fifth Section, First Title of the Fifth Book of the Social Code (SGB V, Third Chapter).
Benefits are only paid to persons who do not have health insurance cover. They are dependent on the income and assets of the person seeking assistance or, in the case of spouses or partners, also on their income and assets.
