You can also obtain paper application forms from the Worms Clinic or from the information box in front of room 25 (first floor) at the town hall.
It is not necessary to submit your application in person - please use the post or the letterbox at the town hall (gray letterbox, to the left of the entrance).
If you need a personal appointment for parental allowance advice, you are welcome to send us an e-mail to elterngeld@worms.de.
You can reach us on the above numbers during our telephone consultation hours. These are Mondays and Wednesdays from 08:00-12:00.
Please note:
Retroactive payment is only possible for a maximum of 3 months. It is therefore advisable to submit the application to the responsible office within the first 3 months of the child's life.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide information on the expected amount of parental allowance before the application is submitted.
Variants of parental allowance:
As a parent, you can receive parental allowance if you primarily want to take care of the child yourself and are therefore not employed or are employed for a maximum of 32 hours per week. You can choose between Basic Parental Allowance and Parental Allowance Plus or combine these two types of benefit. If you as a couple decide to work part-time at the same time, you can each receive four additional months of Parental Allowance Plus - the so-called "partnership bonus".
The basic parental allowance is generally 67% of the average net earned income before the birth. If this average income is less than 1,000 euros, the rate increases to up to 100%; if income is more than 1,240 euros before the birth, the rate is reduced to up to 65%. The basic parental allowance is generally between 300 euros and 1,800 euros per month. If income from employment is also earned while receiving parental allowance, the parental allowance benefit is reduced accordingly.
All mothers and fathers who would like to receive their parental allowance for longer can use ElterngeldPlus: One basic parental allowance month becomes two Parental AllowancePlus months. Parental Allowance Plus is particularly aimed at parents who wish to work part-time for a maximum of 32 hours per week while receiving parental allowance. The amount of Parental Allowance Plus is generally 50% of the basic parental allowance. It can be paid up to the same amount, but over double the period. The decisive factor here is how much income you earn while receiving parental allowance. Parental Allowance Plus is generally between 150 euros and 900 euros per month.
Partnership bonus can be paid if both parents work between 24 and 32 hours per week for at least two to four consecutive months of the child's life. You are free to decide when you want to claim the partnership bonus as part of your parental allowance entitlement period.
Single parents who work between 24 and 32 hours per week for two to four consecutive months can also claim the partnership bonus. You will then receive four additional months of Parental Allowance Plus.
Please note: For births from 01.04.2025, use the new application form (see below)!
