Children, young people, parents and other guardians can turn to parenting and family counseling centers for help with parenting issues, personal or family-related problems as well as questions and conflicts in connection with separations and divorces.

Depending on the age of the child or adolescent, developmental delays, sleeping, eating and speech disorders or anxiety can be reasons for seeking advice. Performance and behavioral problems often occur at school age and can increase in intensity during puberty. Parents often feel overwhelmed by their parenting duties.

However, parents' relationship difficulties and problems with separation and divorce also often require professional help and support from parenting and family counseling centers.

Parents and other guardians have a legal right to educational counseling. The necessary discussions, examinations and consultations are free of charge for those seeking advice.
Children and young people can also visit a counseling center without their parents being present.

Family office in the town hall - bundled information for families from a single source

There are various facilities and institutions in Worms that advise and support families. The range of services is broad and includes topics such as pregnancy advice, advice in family emergencies, parenting advice, child and vacation care, day care and family-related services such as parental allowance and similar. These advisory services and information on family-related benefits are provided by various institutions and specialist authorities.

In order to provide families with an overview of these services, the Family Office of the City of Worms offers family counseling in the town hall. The family counseling service guides families through the wide range of services on offer. Individual needs are clarified and the services are explained.

Family counseling takes place by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Room 28, Worms City Hall.

The advice center for parents, children and young people is a free service offered by the city for people from Worms and the district of Alzey-Worms.

We provide advice and support with

  • General parenting issues
  • Developmental problems and psychological difficulties
  • Conflicts within the family, between parents, siblings and generations
  • Behavioral problems
  • Problems in kindergarten and school (e.g. learning / performance problems) and education
  • Problems in dealing with the child during family crises during and after separation
  • and much more

We provide advice and support:

  • Families and partial families
  • Mothers, fathers, couples
  • Children, teenagers and young adults up to (and including) the age of 21 (also without parents)
  • People with parenting responsibilities (e.g. foster parents, grandparents, etc.)
  • Professionals from social/educational fields of work

We provide advice and support through

  • Systemic family counseling
  • One-to-one sessions for parents and children
  • Mediative counseling for conflicts
  • Educational/therapeutic group sessions for children, young people and parents
  • Psychological parents' evenings
  • Anonymous case consultations for educational professionals

We are obliged to maintain confidentiality, i.e. our counseling is confidential - anonymously if desired.
