Further training
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzContinuing education is an independent part of the education system under public responsibility, on an equal footing with schools, universities and vocational training. It serves the whole person, their personal, professional and social needs.
Continuing education serves the realization of the right to education. It should contribute to equal opportunities, in particular to the equality of women and men and of disabled and non-disabled people, through needs-based educational opportunities, reduce educational deficits, enable the deepening, supplementation and expansion of existing or the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and qualifications and enable people to act independently and self-determinedly in private and public life as well as to participate and share responsibility in professional and public life.
Continuing education should be open to all people, regardless of their gender and age, their education, social or professional status, their political or ideological orientation and their nationality. The continuing education institutions offer a wide range of general, political and vocational continuing education measures. These include measures for vocational qualification, preparation for school-leaving qualifications, literacy, history, politics, psychology, philosophy, art, regional and local studies, natural sciences, technology, artistic and handicraft design, languages, home economics and health education.
Continuing education is intended to promote the willingness of individuals to engage in lifelong learning, contribute to equal opportunities and help to reduce educational deficits.

What is BIWAQ?
BIWAQ is a social partner program of the "Socially Integrative City" urban development program. The program promotes projects for integration into work and for strengthening the local economy. Through the connection with the "Socially Integrative City" urban development program, neighborhood-related local education, economic and labor market projects are integrated with urban development measures.
This social area orientation ensures that the support reaches the people who need it. BIWAQ is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB).
In Worms, BIWAQ has been implemented since January 2019 under the name "Grüne Schiene Worms - Weichenstellung für die Zukunft" and since 2023 under "weichenstellung:zukunft".
Together with the sub-project partners Caritasverband Worms and Worms Adult Education Center, we support people in the so-called field of action 1 with sustainable integration into employment. The services range from life situation-oriented support to individual support and guidance (e.g. professional orientation and coaching) to qualification and further training for participants.
Participation is voluntary and free of charge. The target group is people of working age; the focus is on adults aged 27 and over. The services also focus primarily on people living in the Socially Integrative City - Green Rail project area, namely the Nordend and Neuhausen-Ost districts.
Field of action 2 focuses on the local economy. Businesses located in the Socially Integrative City area are strengthened through services such as advice, networking and support with public relations work. The focus is on small and micro businesses.

The medialization of society is changing the way libraries see themselves and their work. New formats in reading promotion and, above all, the promotion of media and information literacy pose major challenges for the institutions. Changing political and social demands for comprehensive media and information literacy give both public and academic libraries new opportunities and possibilities to expand and improve their services. The media education services offered by Worms City Library include school class workshops on topics such as fake news prevention, digital presentation techniques and media-based library introductions.
Extracurricular activities such as the Roboclub and the Gaming Club offer young people the opportunity to exchange ideas about the exciting world of technology and programming, discover new things and have fun.
