- sich Ihr Gesamteinkommen um mehr als 10 Prozent verringert hat,
- Ihre Miete oder die Belastung bei Wohneigentum (ohne Heizkosten) sich um mehr als 10 Prozent erhöht hat oder
- sich die Anzahl der Haushaltsmitglieder erhöht hat.
Im Falle einer Mieterhöhung oder Erhöhung der Belastung bei Wohneigentum kann es auch zu einer rückwirkenden Erhöhung des Wohngeldes kommen, aber nur bis zu dem Zeitpunkt, ab dem Ihnen Wohngeld bewilligt wurde.
Sollte sich Ihr Gesamteinkommen dadurch verringert haben, dass weniger Mitglieder in Ihrem Haushalt zu berücksichtigen sind, kann dies auch ein Grund für eine Erhöhung des Wohngeldes sein.

Housing benefit is granted as a rent subsidy for the tenant of an apartment and as an encumbrance allowance for the owner of a home or condominium.
Whether housing benefit can be granted depends on various factors:
- The number of family members belonging to your household,
- the amount of your total income
- the amount of eligible rent or charges
- etc.
You can only receive housing benefit if you actually pay the rent and actually use the property. Proof of this must be provided.
Householdsare not entitled to housing benefit if they consist exclusively of people who are training or studying in accordance with the Federal Training Assistance Act or the Social Security Code (SGB III) and are therefore entitled to BAB (vocational training allowance) or BaföG.

Alternatively, the application forms can be collected from the gate at the town hall.
Written applications can be sent
- by post,
- by dropping them in the letterbox at the town hall with the note "Wohngeldstelle" or
- sent as a scan by e-mail to wohngeld@worms.de.

Housing benefit is paid from the 1st of the month in which the application is submitted. As a rule, housing benefit is granted for 12 months.
